Where to Stay for the Marine Corps Marathon 2026: A Scott Circle Race-Weekend Guide

Alice Roosevelt raced cars through the streets of Washington and was famous for not getting out of bed before two in the afternoon. She would have found the Marine Corps Marathon completely baffling and turned up to watch anyway, ideally with something in a flask.

Twenty-six point two miles on foot, voluntarily, at dawn. Extraordinary.

On Sunday, October 25, 2026, the Marine Corps Marathon runs for the fifty-first time, bringing thousands of runners and the people who love them to Washington and Arlington. Managed by the U.S. Marines and known, accurately, as The People’s Marathon, it starts on Route 110 in Arlington and finishes near the Marine Corps War Memorial, with a Finish Festival waiting in Rosslyn.

For runners who’d rather the marathon be the centerpiece of a weekend than the entirety of it, The Beacon, in Scott Circle, is a few Metro stops and one very good neighborhood away.

Make it a Washington weekend, not a Washington errand

Race day is Sunday. Race weekend starts considerably earlier.

The 2026 MCM Health & Fitness Expo and Packet Pick-Up runs October 21 to 24 at the National Building Museum, and every participant has to appear in person for their bib, timing device, and competitor shirt. Which means you’re in the city for an extra day or two whether you planned it or not.

You may as well spend it somewhere with a personality.

From our Rhode Island Avenue address just off Scott Circle, Washington is unusually manageable on foot. Dupont Circle, Embassy Row, museums, galleries, and a decent share of the city’s recognizable landmarks are all within walking distance — 16th Street runs from the circle straight down to the White House — and Dupont Circle and Farragut North stations handle everything further out. Alice’s guide to DC is a reasonable place to build the rest of the itinerary — though most of it can wait until Monday, when your legs will have opinions.

Race weekend with a Marine Corps connection

Your neighbor for the weekend turns out to be well chosen.

At the center of Scott Circle, General Winfield Scott sits on horseback in bronze cast from cannons captured during his Mexico City campaign of 1847. It was the campaign in which Marines stormed Chapultepec — the “Halls of Montezuma” that open the Marines’ Hymn, and the battle Marine Corps tradition honors with the red stripe on dress-blue trousers.

It seems only right to spend Marine Corps Marathon weekend in the general’s company. Say good morning on your shakeout run. He has been up since 1874.

A room built for the night before 26.2 miles

The night before a marathon is not an ordinary hotel night.

The shoes are lined up by the door. The bib has been checked four times, and will be checked again. Breakfast is planned to the minute. The kit is laid out with the reverence of a museum display. And somewhere in the middle of all this, actual sleep is supposed to happen.

Our rooms and suites are equipped for exactly that problem. Blackout shades that take the streetlight out of the equation. SNOOZ sound machines for the city that never quite settles. Fili d’Oro linens. A mini refrigerator and complimentary bottled water for the pre-race hydration ritual. A Lavazza espresso machine ready for an alarm that goes off at an hour Alice would have considered an insult.

Traveling with a partner, a family, or a full cheering section? The Longworth Junior Suites, Wild Rose one-bedrooms, and the Monument Suite all add real living space. Those extra square feet matter more than you’d expect once race kit, luggage, homemade signs, recovery gear, and four people’s weekend plans are all competing for the same floor.

Sort race-morning transport before Saturday night

The 2026 race starts in Arlington, with the main runner start scheduled for 7:20 a.m. on Route 110. Road closures and race-day transport arrangements reshape the area substantially, so a normal Washington travel plan will not survive contact with marathon morning.

The marathon’s official transportation guidance covers the options, including Metro and designated shuttle services. Afterward, Rosslyn station on the Blue, Orange, and Silver lines serves the Finish Festival area.

From Scott Circle you’ve got nearby Metro access and rideshare, which gives you room to maneuver — but check the official MCM transportation updates in the days before the race rather than trusting Sunday morning to behave normally. Our concierge team can help you build in the buffer.

Give recovery a place on the schedule

Crossing the line is only the first item on marathon Sunday’s agenda.

The 2026 MCM Finish Festival runs in downtown Rosslyn from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with food, music, giveaways, and post-race services near the Marine Corps War Memorial. Enjoy it thoroughly.

There will then arrive a specific moment — the medal photographed, the congratulations accepted, the adrenaline conclusively spent — when sitting down becomes the day’s most ambitious remaining goal.

This is when the amenities change meaning entirely. Frette robes and slippers. Salt + Stone bath amenities and a long shower with no particular endpoint. A mini refrigerator, cold water, and a bed you have no intention of leaving. Complimentary WiFi for the results screenshot that must be posted immediately. And a fitness center with yoga mats, resistance bands, and a stretch zone for whenever gentle movement stops sounding like a threat.

Alice never ran a step in her life, but she understood the horizontal plane better than anyone in Washington. She had breakfast in bed until two in the afternoon on principle. On marathon Sunday, you’ve earned the same privilege on merit.

Let the finish line start the trip

A Marine Corps Marathon weekend doesn’t have to end when the clock does.

Spend Monday moving through the neighborhood at roughly a quarter of your race pace. Start with a slow lap of Scott Circle and a nod to the general, then drift west to Dupont Circle. Walk a few blocks of Embassy Row and look up at the flags. Choose one museum. Drink coffee without consulting a pace chart. Give tired legs an undemanding day in the neighborhoods that were a blur at mile nineteen.

The Beacon gives race-weekend travelers a base that’s connected to the event without being consumed by it — and an offer or two worth a look if you’re extending the stay.

Come for 26.2 miles. Stay for the part of Washington that isn’t on the course map.
